How did Home Aloners start?
Home Aloners
was started in the small but energetic village of Blewbury
in south Oxfordshire, by desk-top publisher Stephen Gaymer,
who, like many others these days, works from home.
In May 1996 thirteen people who met the condition of 'not
having a Christmas Party to go to' responded to an advert
placed in the local freesheet, the 'Blewbury
Bulletin', and met for lunch at the Red Lion, Blewbury.
Home Aloners was born.

The central activities in each locality are
regular lunches at a local pub or restaurant,
hosted by a Lunchmaster who runs the local group
and hosts the lunches.
-
Other activities such as guest lunches, happy
hours, parties and local excursions are arranged as
appropriate.
-
After each lunch a newsletter is circulated to
group members with details of the lunch, news, and
forthcoming activities;
-
Full list of local members.
-
Each group holds a Christmas Party.

What are the criteria for joining Home
Aloners?
-
That you work from home.
-
That you have no Christmas party to go to.
These criteria are a guide, rather than hard
and fast rules. It is up to the local Lunchmaster to decide
who joins his or her group.
